Frequently Asked Questions
Technology & Performance
Do you make the membrane flatsheet yourselves?
No, we do not. We source the flatsheet from third party manufacturers. What makes us unique is that we improve the membrane element performance by printing a new feed spacer directly on the membrane surface.
How do you save energy?
Additional active area and a more open feed channel enables operation at a reduced flux, lowering the required net driving pressure. In addition, reduced pressure drop ensures more uniform flow distribution, resulting in lower energy consumption by the system.
Retrofit & Compatibility
Do we need to purchase any additional equipment to use Aqua Membranes' Technology?
No, you do not. Our reverse osmosis membrane elements have the same dimensions as traditional membrane elements. We simply enhance their operation, enabling you to improve the performance of existing equipment or, in some cases, use less equipment than you initially anticipated.
Do your elements need any special cleaning chemicals?
No special chemicals are required. Our elements are fully compatible with standard Clean-In-Place (CIP) protocols. We have rigorously tested our printed spacers, and they demonstrate excellent chemical resistance under all standard cleaning conditions.

Cost & ROI
Are standard mesh elements cheaper to buy?
While the upfront investment is higher, the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is significantly lower. Standard mesh elements are cheaper to buy but expensive to operate due to high energy use and frequent fouling. Aqua Membranes elements typically pay for themselves within 12-18 months through:
- 30% lower energy bills.
- 50-80% reduction in cleaning chemical costs.
- Longer membrane life (fewer replacements).
